My Mondeo has front and rear parking sensors.  I've never been beeped at so much!!   

Oh and it's also the first car I had with electric folding mirrors, which is handy to be able to tuck them in at the press of a button. 

Trouble with parking sensors front & back is that you become deaf to them continually beeping at you ..... I've even had a tree leap out  behind me ...... & I did hit it

What if you don't want to fold the mirrors when you lock it though? 

On mine, you go in to the settings and un-tick the 'Fold mirrors when locking' option. You can still manually do it on the door button or the fob. 

I think mine is a setting needing dealer diags equipment, which is a bit daft IMHO. Esp as my passenger one is getting lazy unfolding, so I'd probably be inclined not to fold when locking . And I bet a replacement mirror is the wrong side of £2k - I know the glass is well over £300

Pop the cover off with a thin bladed knife, clear the crud out, and liberally lubricate 
I've no issues so far on mine, but had to do this on my old X350 Jaaaaag - once done all ok.

This was three days ago, no police action so far. He can't 'lose his job', he's freelance and hasn't worked for the BBC for ten years.

Who said he would lose his job with the BBC?  Will anyone employ him after that madness?

Police action takes a time with all evidence being reviewed and victims / witnesses being interviewed.  Time will tell

Yeah, yeah, yeah.  No one but you is allowed an opinion.  Everyone knows that and that is why, as I have stated before, so few now contribute to this forum.

For your information I am working on a hate crime case with the police that so far has taken five weeks of investigation. It is only now that arrests can be made.

As criminal offences have been alleged, it will be down to the police if they want to present this to the CPS.  The family do not necessarily need to do anything but give statements.

Sorry Lizzie, but I don't understand how you can be working with the police on a hate crime case, when you obviously don't comprehend what constitutes a hate crime. 

As to the mental dickhead in the video, I agree with Mr Gavs comment

Anyone got some info on owning and running a mini , the older ones around about the 80s era . I know about rust and subframe rot but engine wise are they pretty robust . 

The older ones are from the 60s - very simple and very easy to work on.  Main issue as said is/was rust, particularly around rear end    The old A series engines are pretty bombproof, and highly tuneable.  Regular servicing is a must, but easy enough, and cheap.  HTH

Looks very nice.The X300 I had was the same[or very similar]colour.If I were to return to XJ ownership the X350 is the newest I'd go to as I'm not at all keen on the newer ones.

Drive one, the later XF and XJ are cracking motors and make the older models feel very dated and poorly built. 

The (dealer demo, new then) XF I drove in 2015 handled like a pig, I thought - though I'm told that's the exception so I probably should have tried another dealer Good chance that one had been crashed up every kerb in Ascot..

Still have a (big) soft spot for the older shape Jags like the above, though. Lovely looking.

I drove a few prefacelifted XFs before deciding to go for an X351 XJ, and can confirm they all handled pretty well, and the XF gives great feedback.  If I had complaint with X351 handling, it does lack a bit of feedback - much like an Omega with maximum servotronic assistance configured on an Omega.

For those who have had an Omega for ages, the stability control on both the XF and XJ allow a lot more learyness before the electronics gather it all back up, which can cause an extra heatbeat or two when putting down all the power a little early in damp conditions. Apparently.

Try it with the V8 with tc/stability control off - tried it on mine and it needs a delicate right foot or its a right handfull - interesting to say the least 

Still prefer my X351 to my old X350 - its a far more comfortable and pleasant drive.

Seized aircon compressor? - try removing ancillary (fan) belt and seeeing if it turns over - if it fires turn it off - don't let it idle.  Had this on an old mfl Elite Estate.

You need the charcoal filter for your 2.6V6 

GM specify the charcoal filter for facelift cars, but the standard filter for pfl and mfl irrespective of climate fitted or not

Hate seeing that footage as Roger Williamson was a good mate when I lived in Leicester in the 60s, and we had kept in touch up until his death.  I had raced against him on a number of times when he was running his Holbay Anglia in the 60s, in my Cooper S, and managed to beat him a couple of times.  Certainly not a nice way to go - full marks to David Purley for his efforts - the mashalls at Zandvoort seemed particularly inept!

Priced up complete front and rear poly set for the black cat. £680. OUCH!!

Its a silly warranty, won't cover wear and tear, and bushes are a service item really.

Personally, I refused to pay for the warranty, so I didn't pay for it. But they included it anyway.


Also, I don't want any mongrels touching the thing, only people I trust.  So dealer/specialist will only change oil annually for the stamp...  ...*IF* I decide to keep up "official" history, which I might not, as its a keeper. Next owner might well be scrapyard

Agreed, but as mine's low milage I argued with the dealer that it was premature failure, and Jag warranty authorised the repair and paid up.  The warranty is like all extended warranties, but if you are prepared to argue with Jaguar warranty, they will quite often back down.

Sound only comes as engine cold. Without the belt it doesn't make any sound. The idler is new and when I heard it was bad you could hear it clearly being it but this is different.
Any of the pulleys won't make any noise when just trying to roll them with hand...

How you recognise the waterpump failure?

With belt off, spin them by hand and feel for any roughness.  Also rock them top to bottom to feel for any bearing play, also worth checking no pully bolts loose    This applies to waterpump too
