Omega General Help / Re: 2.2 facelift EGR
« on: 28 August 2010, 17:18:19 »
Well just me wanting to be lazy really . :-[

Rather than cleanining it again a while down the line.

The car is 10yrs young and can see no reason why it wont last for a long time to come if taken care of.
Giving how easy they are to service and replace parts (cheap too in most cases  ;D ).

Was just curious that if blanking it would have minimal effect in the long run.

Oh well if it's worth doing, suppose it's worth doing right. Off to go get dirty again  ;D

Do you think the TB needed cleaning? lol..............

Omega General Help / 2.2 facelift EGR

hi  :)

Just to ask is there any reason for blanking the EGR on a 2.2 other than the fact that you dont have to clean it.

Have read somewhere on the forum that you only get a performace gain on the v6 or something,
so other than just to be lazy and blank it off so no more cleaning, will there be any negative effects on the running of the car?

cheers  ;)

Omega General Help / Drivers Door
« on: 21 August 2010, 17:41:58 »
Hey all,

I have got a problem with the hinge thingy(dunno what to call it) on the drivers side door.
just wondering if this is fixable or i just have to be carefull with it :-

The part in the center.

View looking from the top down.

and looking from the ground up

so the 2 studs are comming away on the same side (inside 2)
The door feels as though if does jump pretty hard from notch to notch on the metal arm.

Just knock it back in and get a couple of spot welds?

thanks  ;)

Hi folks,

Am needing a new Cat (looks like it's gona fall apart and got the P0420 poping up the EML)and fortunately found this post first thankfully  :y

I was just gona order one identical to the one fitted, this type http://www.onlineautomotive.co.uk/ProductImages/321996.jpg

Thanks for the link Shrek http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Cat-Catalytic-Converter-Vauxhall-Omega-2-2i-16v-99-/320396351654?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM

So i am defo better getting the pre cat version? Auto / Manual the same? (would this have been fitted origionally? ) Y plate Manual 2001 2.2 CD 16v Petrol

Would rather have the proper part even if it was dearer, but it's great that the pre cat one is cheaper! :y

Omega General Help / Re: Removal of 'vauxhall' lettering

Hi,
Best way i found of removing the badges without any chance of scratching or damaging the paint is to get a strong bit of nylon fishing line, just pull it across under the badge and it will cut thru the spongey part and just leave the adhesive needing removed and cleaned up.   :y

oh and Hi :) nice forum. Just picked up my Omega today, and so the work begins  ;D

« on: 21 August 2010, 20:44:47 »
Hi, been floating about the site for a bit, thought i had posted here(must have just hit Preview :-[ )

Had my Omega for a couple of weeks now, realy like the ride it gives. Great just cruising to work on Mway.

84K, 8yrs VX SH and rest from a random garage), Timing belt kit done at 75K

and thanks to all who input on these forums, Auto Addict, Tunnie and everyone on OOF.

all thanks to this forum the car has already had :-

Headertank replaced due to Coolent level sensor. Flushed all old water and now has a perfect 50/50 coolent mix.
Flushed engine and changed oil and filter.
Breather system / Throttle body,Butterfly and Cam Cover Gasket done (could have shoveld the crap out of them)
and just waiting on new Cat coming thanks to shrek (aka Proz) for pointing me in the right direction for that.

Wife asked me what i wanted for my 40th (yea am that old) told her an MV6 or the standard male mid life crisis Motorbike. You can guess what i'll be getting then :y

Overall very impressed and pleased with the Mig  ;D
