« on: 06 July 2014, 10:05:13 »
All sorted thanks chaps. Got charged £110 to supply and fit which I thought was a good deal.

Thanks again for all your help and advice, much appreciated.

:( Ironically, the guy came round to have a look at it.....and it started first time....cue me looking a pillock again...!

Annoying was since it failed to start on Saturday I've tried to start it every day....and it wouldn't fire.

He put his own diagnostic plug in...and it came up with the code for a crankshaft sensor warning.  Strange that the one the Green Flag guy used didn't come up with the same thing...!

He's going to pick up the part and hopefully fit it before the weekend...thank God.

Thanks again for all your help and advice though.

I'm actually looking for another car at the moment....just for a change. But I actually came across a 2003 3.2 model thats only got 35000 miles on the clock..!  Looks immaculate in and out....and the guy is looking for £5K for it.  Very tempting.....

Thanks very much for your help and advice.....and especially you Zirk.  That's really good of you to offer to help out.  I actually spoke to a guy this morning (before I saw your post tonight) and hopefully he's going to sort it out tomorrow.

Only problem is it still won't start and its parked outside my house.  Is it the sort of thing that can be fitted where its parked or will it need towing...?

What am I looking at cost wise....?   I'd have to get someone to do it as well....

Apologies....its a 2.6 not 2.4. CDX V6. Jan 2002.

If its the sensor what do you think it would cost to repair...?  Does it need replacing or is it the sensor just getting dirty...?

Hi Taxi Al.....a mate of mine mentioned the camshaft sensor.....is that the same thing.....?

IS it something that is just intermittent or would it need looking at.

I just thought that the fact it started when the Green Flag bloke turned up....and made me look a bit of a dick for calling him I wondered whether that would keep happening....?

Omega General Help / Air in the fuel pump...?
« on: 29 June 2014, 17:52:54 »
I've got a 2001 Omega, a 2.4L petrol automatic. Tried to start the car to leave office about 3 weeks ago and, despite having had no previous problems, it was turning and not firing. Called out Green Flag and after appearing to tighten something in the engine while I was in the driving seat he asked me to start it....and it started first time.

He said it would seem I'd got some air in the fuel pump but it should now be ok.

About a week or so later the same thing happened again.  Called them out again but this time, when he'd arrived, I went out and it started first time..!  But he said not to worry he would put the diagnostic machine on and just make sure everything was ok.  No fault codes at all which led him to say it was 'one of those things'.

Two and a bit weeks on, with no further problems in between, its happened again. I'm not going to use another call out....but I'm actually thinking of changing cars and would therefore prefer not to shell out a lot of money in repairs.....but I'm stuck as it won't start now.

Any suggestions or thoughts anyone...??

Omega General Help / Re: Spanner Light/Computer Light
« on: 21 December 2013, 16:59:26 »
I was trying to avoid having to take it to Vauxhall just for them to charge me £50 to put it on a meter and then tell me its an 'unidentified fault' like they did with my last one. There were two codes on then....and the other was the code for a faulty cruise control.....when there wasn't even ac cruise control on the car....!

Can anyone let me know what the 'pedal trick' is....?

Never done the pedal trick....and the problem is we have to leave in abut 45 minutes.....and I'm washed and ready to go...!

Do you think it would be safe to drive tonight and try the test tomorrow.....assuming it starts and pulls away ok.

I've got a 2.6L Vauxhall Omega and I've been driving it for some time with the exhaust emission light on without any problems.....but I was parked up at a shop today, started the engine and as I went to pull away and it felt like it was going to drag as if it was in limp mode....and I noticed the spanner light had come on but the emission light had gone off.

I restarted the engine again....and have done a couple of small trips since and the spanner light is still showing but the emission light is still off.

I'm sensing this could just be another dodgy circuit problem.....but I've got a 30 mile trip tonight with the kids and don't fancy breaking down on the M1.

Do you think it will be ok....and do you agree that its just an iffy circuit...?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Diagnostic Fault Codes
« on: 25 August 2010, 19:56:57 »
Thanks Dave. Interestingly enough though a mate of mine took me to his friends garage first and he had a diagnostic machine but on his one it cam up with '3 undesignated faults'.

It was him that actually suggested that in the light of that coming up that only a Vauxhall garage would be able to diagnose the fault.  In terms of location though, I live in Bushey, Hertfordshire which is near to Watford.

Thanks Charlie. The strange thing was that the guy from Vauxhall said that neither code could be deleted....do you think he was just saying that to prompt me to book it in...?  The problem is that it doesn't get investigated/deleted then presumably the diagnostic light wont go out...?

Charlie, thanks for your reply....but whats a cc stalk...? And I forgot to mention on my original message....although the 92 code related to a cruise control device, I haven't got cruise control on the car...!

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Diagnostic Fault Codes
« on: 25 August 2010, 17:14:52 »
I've got an S Reg 2.5 Diesel Omega. My diagnostic light has been coming on although it hasn;t been coming on when I start the car in the morning, it comes on after I've switched the engine on, left it for a while and restarted it.

I've just had to pay £47 to Vauxhall's to run it through their machine and it has come up with two codes.

The actual description says : T/C 54 present fuel solenoid test incorrect or short to ground.   T/C 92 present cruise control device circuit open or high voltage. Requires further investigation. The guy at Vauxhall was none the wiser with this and sais that they would have to do a further 'electrical test' which would hopefully shed further light on the problem. For that they will charge a further 2 hours labour at £92 per hour and STILL may then only be in a position to tell me what the problem is. No I don't have a problem paying to have a car repaired but it seems to be a bit rich to have to pay £250 just for them to TELL me whats wrong..!  From the codes I've given does anyone have any ideas what the problem may be...?
