Its about 600 miles from my place in the UK to my place in France. Currently costs me around £80 in my C2, so I'd expect an Omega to do it for around £120 in a V6 Omega. That'd be perfectly acceptable and still leaves space in my expenses for flooring it.

Because of the Chunnel I'll be avoiding gas. The 2.6 Elite sounds good, wasn't aware that they did a 2.6 Elite.

For ages I preferred the pre facelift syling, and either were always going to outdo the Scorpio on looks, but of lat I much prefer the facelift.
I've had my fill of clutch pedals, as I'm sure you can appreciate, doing this many miles makes changing gear a bloody pain.
Also, what's the consensus on estates? Mostly hammered? I don't need an estate but if there's no major difference I'll have one.

I'm just thinking I'd prefer a facelift to an early model. I reckon it would cut more of a dash in my office car park, the later cars seem to have more presence.
Was the facelift fitted with the 3.0 and a slushbox? Must be a slushbox.

I got one, a knackered 1993 2.0 GLS, as an emergency courtesy car a while ago.
Even though it self destructed, and I was the last person to drive it, it was superb, I wasn't going to consider anything else.

What else can I expect from a CD/CDX/Elite?
Much appreciate all the help, although I've been into Vauxhalls, Omegas are new territory for me.

What sort of economy can I expect from a V6 auto?
Also, facelift or early model?
Apart from different engines, ie 2.5 vs 2.6 are there any other differences?

I'll stick to posts here, being as this is the correct place.
Only concern is re Chunnel for LPG.
Does LPG compromose reliability with a V6? I need something that'll perform as solidly as my Citroen has flat out on the Autoroutes. One breakdown could cost me my position so I need to minimise the odds?

I'm looking for an Omega for hurtling up and down to France.
I'd prefer a V6, which leaves me with the options of a 2.5, a 2.6, a 3.0 or a 3.2. Fuel is on expenses but I don't want it to be TOO thirsty. I'd also consider a 2.2, but not a 2.0, I don't think the 2.0 is powerful enough for me.
What would our experts recommend?
Automatic is a total must, and I'd like spec, air con and cruise are essential and I have up to a grand (GBP) to spend.
Much appreciate any advice.
