Omega General Help / 2.5TD Limp Home Mode
« on: 06 September 2010, 11:21:41 »
Hi

Thanks for the welcome.

I have a LHD 2002 Opel 2.5TD (BMW Engine) 5 speed auto Estate.

Had the car for 5 years, it's done 140,000 miles and since having a new engine (2 actually but it's a looong story!!) it's been running well until a couple of weeks ago. It decided to go into limp home mode, very annoying as I was a log way from home.

Anyway, got it back and did some reseach on the net and came up with low gearbox oil as the most like cause. Took it to a local garage (not VX) who said they think it may be throttle sensor. VX want 260€ for a new one! They took the complete pedal assembly off and I brought it home to try and find a new one. Opened it up to find that there is a pronted circuit with a couple of carbon tracks that it the throttle sensor position. Put my meter on the tracks and they seem fine. Thought I would try and find a new pcb - dead easy to fit. But seems that the LHD pedal is different to the UK version - surprise surpise!

So my question is this:

Does anyone know what resistance I should see on the carbon track? Can I get a new PCB and if so, where?

Are there any other common cause of limp home mode?

Thanks all.

Tim

Hi All,

I am English but now living in South West France. I have had my Opel 2.5TD (BMW Engine) 5 speed auto box, for 5 years having bought it in Germany when we came here to live.

Had several problems with the car but up until recently it has been fine.
Now it is stuck permanently in limp home mode and I need some help - which bit of the forum should I post in?

Thanks all

Tim
