Omega General Help / EML flashing on 2000 F/L 3.0 Elite Auto
« on: 29 January 2012, 20:21:59 »
Hello there,

This is a problem which literally came about a few hours ago, when I was reversing I noticed out of the corner of my eye that the EML started to flicker, here are the details:

The EML flashes at random intervals at different speeds below 1000rpm and whilst idling,
While holding the throttle at 2000rpm the EML doesn't come on at all,
Upon kickdown the EML flashes extremely quickly and at 4500-5000rpm onwards it stays on solid,
Under normal driving conditions the EML doesn't start flashing until you give it 1/4 pedal travel and then goes away,
and there is no loss of power at all during kickdown.

There is literally nothing I can hear or see out of the ordinary, the car is running completely normal. Im pretty sure there is nothing wrong with the engine (no strange noises, no loss of power etc...) but I have a feeling it has something to do with the cats? I read a thread about the EML flashing means the cats are gone (or going).

I did the paperclip test and there are no codes, just the 31 because the engine wasn't running.

If any of you guys know what the cause of this may be or if there is anything else you think I should do or if you've seen this before please say.   :y :)

Much appreciated,
Omega V6.

Is there a way to fix this? Or will it have to be replaced? Thanks for your reply

My mulitchanger works fine by the way its just the cd. Does anybody know what the problem could be? Its an NCDC 2013. Help appreaciated, thanks.

Ahh ok, but if you say it is an average speed reading, i went on a 200 mile run the other day and put it on cruise at 75, it was saying the average speed was 22?  :-? and yes i did reset it before the run
It is slightly misleading, surely it would of been better for vx to put Av. Speed instead of just speed. Oh well  :P
But yes like you say, it may be swapped from another model or something. Thanks for all your help.

Omega General Help / Unknown switch

Hi all, on my 3.0 auto I have this switch just below the snow/ice button. I have used it and nothing happens anywhere from what I can see, I have never seen this on another omega, I was wondering what it might do? Do any of you guys have an idea of what it might be? Thanks for any help.

So just get a new crank sensor and it should be ok?

Ahh ok but on the fault code list given by Marks DTM Calib it says:
17 Knock Signal Circuit 2
18 Knock Control Module; Replace Electronic Control Unit (ECU)
19 Incorrect RPM Signal
21 Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Voltage High
22 Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Voltage Low
Surely if it it were crank problems, the engine would be lumpy and noisy. Or are you just saying its the sensor that needs replacing, because its the quietest running omega ive ever heard and it drives lovely  :D

Omega General Help / Fault code
« on: 09 October 2010, 17:01:04 »
Hello, just did the paperclip test with the engine off and I got a 19 Incorrect RPM Signal, but I thought if the engine was off youre supposed to get a 31?  :-?
I did the test again with the engine on and got the 19 again. I did the test because there are a few different little problems with the car, but as I said I only got the one fault code. How can I fix this? Thanks for any help
