have also had the gearbox fault message come up a few times recently but not linked the two ... had a huge problem with that gearbox message a few years ago, took months to resolve, during that process the cambelt sensor was changed but was purchased from an Ebay Vauxhall specialist dealer as a genuine VX part ? perhaps it wasn't ?
(packaging looked genuine!

PS ; just for info the gearbox fault message turned out to be nothing to do with gearbox ..... the problem was solved by changing the throttle body ? Apparently the speed sensor didn't match the throttle position sensor so the onboard displayed there was a problem with gearbox.
will go to local VX dealer and get myself a new sensor.
