Easy, locked it, left it for a couple of hours, tried it again, everything back to normal,...........it must have the ability to lock the barrels.

Omega General Help / Ignition and Door lock outs
« on: 26 February 2008, 20:47:37 »
Does anybody know if it's possible for the ignition lock and door locks to freeze themselves out, It's a 2001 2.6 V6 CDX model, the story goes, I,ve recently bought a Signum, but waiting till the end of the month to tax it, so am still using the Omega, came home from work today had no problems with the Ignition lock at all (nor have I ever had), parked the car on the drive in front of the Signum, then started doing a bit of work on the Signum (hoovering and cleaning) during which the car was locked and unlocked several times from the fob, now the problem,
just come to go out in the Omega, doors unlock and lock from the fob, but put the key in the ignition and the barrel refuses to turn, same with the spare key, so tried the keys (both) in the drivers door lock, and this is the same (refuses to turn) although I've never used them in the door before, so it could actually be the wrong key in theory, could the Omega have considered me playing with the Signum fob an attack and locked the barrels (is this possible) or could it just be a case of coinsidence, would disconnecting the battery, reset things, or could I end up being locked out as well.

Just saying hello, I come from South Yorks and am currently on number 2 omega a 2001 2.6 v6 cdx, first was a 1998 2.0 cdx. I've had it 2 years now, belts and tensioners were done as I bought it (done 17 k now), water by-pass valve a month a go and the exhaust yesterday (thankfully the 2.5 v6 exhaust is the same), the car is on 138 k at the moment and runs like a dream.

Hello & Thanks

Hi Karl, just joined myself, the warning you are getting I think is related to the HID headlamp levelling system, there is a sensor coupled up to the near side front suspension (again, I think it's the nearside), which controls the beams, maybe the connectors come loose or disconnected while you where fitting the new wheels, I don't think the wheel size should make any diffrence.
