howdy again folks

i changed my dis pack over the weekend as the car was missing like mad

it is, however, still running rough/lumpy, particularly at low revs & is hesitating slightly on acceleration, it smoothes out a touch as the revs climb but it's clearly not quite right & nowhere near as smooth as it should be  :( the gear stick is shaking quite a bit at times & feels like it belongs on an old massey ferguson tractor  :-?

my next step is thinking that i should change the plugs & leads asap but as there is weeping from the left bank (as you look at the car from the front) cam cover gasket should i really be doing that as well and cleaning out the breathers too at the same time?

i 'paperclipped' the car earlier and had (amongst other expected codes to do with a recent battery problem) a code 57 (ICV) which would point to an issue with the engine not breathing properly wouldn't it? (also backed up if i have interpreted what i have read about the cam gaskets giving up due to breathing difficulties)

sorry if i have gone on a bit but i wanted to get as much detail in about the issue as possible

any advice on this will be greatly appreciated  :y, obviously all the work above needs doing but if i can get the car running smoothly and work through them bit by bit rather than in one go it would save my patience (well definitely the wife's thats for sure)  ;D

i took all the badges off my boot, i have got myself into the habit of de-badging my cars as much as i possibly can - think i'm getting a bit OCD about it now actually  :D

the griffin will indeed leave behind two 'locating pin holes' i covered the holes by recycling my 'MV6' badge/digits in place of where the griffin used to sit, doesn't look too bad actually - well not to me anyway but anyone else might think it looks crap  ;D

yeah so i gather, i had a trawl and found a pic of the ecu's frazzled connector  :(

i can live without the speedo (for a little while anyway) & i have sussed judging my speed from the rev counter now (or i use my nokia in sat nav mode to tell me)  ;D

i had a boy in blue behind me t'other day (didn't have my nav on at the time) & i could just picture his face if he had stopped me & asked me if i knew what speed i was doing! 'erm.............i don't really know officer as...well it's like this...............'  ;D

thanks for the replies  :y

looks like i'll need to rip it out asap, it's really starting to do my head in now & rather than being an intermittent problem it only now works for about 10 minutes when i start off in the morning and then cuts out & doesn't come back on until the next morning  >:(

howdy y'all, i need your help folks, does anyone know the part number for the abs ecu on an MY2000 (facelift) 3.0 manual? i have all the signs of an ecu failure - TC/ABS lights on, speedo dropping out, i have cleaned the hub sensors to no avail - not that i really expected it to work  ;D i am going to try to source the ecu through a breaker (or ebay) and rather than strip it out to find the part number i thought i would ask if anyone knows the number first and then hopefully only have to take the unit off when putting the replacement on seeing as how it isn't going to be a 5 minute job  :D, cheers all

hi all, am new to the site but not omegas so thought i would say hello, i am onto my 3rd mv6 and just love them - i have had a manual 1997 irmscher, cloth interior (shouldn't have sold it!  :(), an auto 1999 'black strip', leather interior (wrote it off being a donut in the wet with the TC off  ;D) and currently have a 2000 facelift manual, all have been silver (i seem to attract silver cars for some reason  :) i have a few niggly faults to sort out (have done most of them already actually) but nothing i'm sure i can't handle (passenger door locking solenoid, adjust the bonnet springs, tracking is well out!! (dunno if seized up yet) & a couple of other things) i want eventually to get my hands on a facelift irmscher but time will tell (getting rarer all the time) - i'm looking forward to delving more into the forum, cheers guys and catch y'all soon  :D

hi kevin

compression is down on cylinders 1 & 3, however no compression gauges applied, cannot see oil in the water

there is a little oil in the plug wells but not a huge amount

dis pack is new as are the plugs & leads - replaced in the last week

the exhaust pipes are very very black and the exhaust gases are very wet
