Omega General Help / Leaking radiator on V6
« on: 27 March 2009, 17:04:35 »
Hi, The rad on my 2.5 v6 has a bad leak, i need to top up about 1 litre every 2 days, its had a small leak for a few years but has got worse in the last few months.
Do you think its worth trying Rad Weld? i have heard that this can cause other problems to the pipes etc on the cooling system.

Any advice or comments appreciated.
Thanks

Omega General Help / Re: suspected dispack

Hi, sorry to hear about your problems, i have just been through all the same with mine, was mis firing on plug 1 so had new leads and plugs, but still same mis fire, then went to new coil pack, this did fix the spark on all cylinders but still was not running well so garage said it needed new camshaft sensor and this sorted the problem, but a week after 1 of my cat converters had burnt out so had to have new 1 fitted, finally everything works well and just done 500 mile trip to Bath for the weekend and had no problems.

Hope you get it sorted.

John

Ok thanks for  that, actually it has spent last week in garage for new coil pack and cam shaft sensor so they might have disturbed it.
Thanks

Omega General Help / Alarm goes off when its sunny
« on: 20 May 2007, 18:35:26 »
Hi all, been having a problem with the alarm going off when its in direct sunlight, been going off several times within an hour, it used to do this last summer ocassionally but not as bad as now. Any ideas of cause or where are the sensors and can they be altered?
Thank you.

The coil pack cost 150 and the camshaft sensor 75, both genuine from VX ( might get some cheaper from ebay but just wanted car back on road quickly) think they charged me 4 hours labour. oh well glad to have it back and running great. Jack

The mis fire was not too bad it was just the 1 cylinder down ( nearest to radiator on drivers side) i drove around with it for few weeks but was painfully rough and severe lack of power. I never had any EML light at all which i thought strange.
Good luck mate.

Hi, Just had big problems with mine, misfiring, got it checked out and No1 plug was getting no spark so was diagnosed as the coil pack failure but even after this was replaced it was still not running smooth, so garage said that it is the camshaft sensor , so had this done this week and evertything is great now, luckily my Cat Converter is not damaged ( cost £450  all in for parts/labour)

Omega General Help / Re: Rocker cover gaskets
« on: 04 May 2007, 19:19:54 »
Hi thanks for your help... just to let you know what hs been happening, well i took it back to garage and they said it needs a new cam cover on the passenger side( got this done by them, total of £200 labour/parts inc new gasket on other side) got a 6 month guanrantee that if any oil leaks from either side they will sort it free of labour charges. But after i drove it away it was still running poorly, lacking power and very sluggish... took it back again and took guy out for test drive to let him see himself how poor it was running, he said new plugs/leads... so got them to fit new plugs (free fitting) but still not made any difference, so now left with the leads to change cos he sys if they have been immersed in oil for a few months might effect them.

So now don't know what to do, the leads on there have only done about 20 k miles, and its a big job to change i believe. I'm sure this garage don't really have a clue what they doing, not even sure it needed a new cam cover (the old one looked perfectly flat and ok to me)

Any ides? should i get the AA to check it out to see if they know how to cure it?

I appreciate any advice/ideas you have?

Thanks

Jack

Omega General Help / Rocker cover gaskets
« on: 21 April 2007, 14:20:24 »
Hi all,  I have 2.5 V6, 1998, 150 k, engine has been running great, had rocker cover gaskets replaced 3 months ago (£270), all seemed well but last few weeks engine started running slugish, lacking power etc... i checked on spark plugs and found the plug wells were full off oil, i'm going to take back to garage where i had work done, now is it their fault that the gaskets were not fitted correctly or maybe they never cleaned oil from plug wells when they fitted gaskets, or could their be another reason? any thoughts or advice on this matter would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi, Mine has done the same (2.5 V6 Estate) for 18 months, never been a problem, tends to be for a shorter time period when the engine is warm.
