currently we have a 2000 fl 2.5 cdx auto in dark blue, lovely car but other half wants a change, something sportier and more economical to run and maintain so she can join in on some trackdays with us :)

yep, sound tinny, def louder.
Yes mate thats it, although its only really under load, don't really notice it when other halfs driving, must be me with old lead right foot  ;D  Although does seem a little quieter today so perhaps its just the being new and once a bit of carbon builds up it will be ok, its also loads better on fuel now with new cats and lambda's :y

Omega General Help / Exhaust noise?
« on: 17 February 2012, 23:09:45 »
I've just had the downpipes incl the cats replaced on the partners 2.5 cdx(due to one of the cats rattling and blocking), the issue i have now is there seems alot of noise especially at 2/3k rpm, the parts wern't genuine but seemed ok and fitted well, is it just a case of them needing to coke up a bit for the car to be back to its nice quiet former glory?

Omega General Help / Re: Custom Exhausts
« on: 26 November 2011, 13:17:31 »
Steve (SP32) had one built by them on his 3.2, the car was bought by a member on here and is currently on ebay if you want to see pictures.

Only thing I would say is, if you go to any of these custom exhaust centres with a V6 insist that you have a twin pipe system all the way through, they will try and sell you a single pipe and get round any issues you may raise by saying that they will put a bigger pipe after the join. Anyone who has driven a V6 with the proper spec exhaust and a single 'mid' pipe exhaust will tell you how flat they are compared.

strange one that as going into one pipe should increase torque and bring it lower into the rev range which if anything should improve drivability. When i had my previous m3 system built by custom chrome racing it went into one just after the cats, all the way back, the guy who brought the car off me said it was the best driving most torquey m3 3.0 he had ever driven and it actually was quicker than alot of the 3.2 models that he had driven, this was also confirmed by rolling road before and afters 285bhp before 318bhp after, with a similar torque increase, exhausts done properly with the right calculations work very well imho :)
