LCD monitor with HDMI
« on: 29 March 2008, 08:01:28 »

Guys, anyone have one of these or similar?  24" LCD monitor with HDMI input.  Want to be able to play Xbox 360, etc., and the missus still watch her shows.  Only 3,000 contrast ratio though, is that decent for PC work?

Looks like a sweet monitor.  I use a 19" screen for my Media Center PC and the picture is great, works good for games, etc but never tried it with an Xbox.  22" should be awesome!

I have picked up a 32" LCD and cant wait to hook it up..  ;)

I run my xbox 360 though my LG 20" Widescreen TFT.

Just get the VGA adaptor for the xbox! - Plugs in via VGA then.

Much better method because it has a split off before the VGA cable with 2 RCA cables which you can feed to a speaker system.

With HDMI you will rely on the the monitors speakers / or a monitor output for speakers.

The official MS VGA cable also has a digital audio out (optical iirc - Mrs TB's brother is holding my Xbox to ransom ;D), if you want the full glory...

That monitor has Audio out from the HDMI.  Don't use the toslink on the Xbox anyway b/c it requires the big stupid cable.  I'd be using earphones since swmbo would be watching her shows, so no biggie anyway.

Tunnie, how is the brightness?

Brightness? Its fine  :)

When i had my flat in London, i hooked up the xbox via HDMI to a 42" LG TV

I switched it to VGA for my LG 20" TFT, there is no difference in HDMI to VGA.

HDMI is just a way of combing audio & video down the same cable, just because HDMI is digital, it does not make it better.

Often component is just as good, and can be better  :y

I meant that the contrast ratio is 3K.  Many LCD TV's are 15-18K and the really good ones are 25K.

Separately, I do notice the difference HDMI to VGA.
