2.5TD auto locked in P
« on: 11 March 2012, 18:52:51 »

The gear selector lever is sometimes getting stuck in the P position and doesn't allways release when footbrake is applied. I know how to release it manually by pressing the yellow trigger under the selector lever gaiter.

Other threads suggest a bad brake light switch is the probable cause. Is there a way to permanantly disable this annoying "safety" feature? I guess I could hold the trigger down with sticky tape or similar. Can anyone suggest anything better?

Thanks

Had an auto Vectra do a similar trick and also when going from N to D. Turned out that I'd lost both side brake lights - only high level working. Fitted new bulbs and all good....just a thought.
