Another vote for pump action garden sprayer. Creosote though, back when it was proper stuff, although full of bits that clogged the filter. Still quicker and less messy than a brush.

Not had great results with them to be honest.

They can be quite messy and it does not last great as its not forced into the wood as well as a brush does.
