Vauxhall Spares For Facelift Cars
« on: 31 March 2008, 16:59:23 »

Unfortunately I Had a nasty expreiece with a bloody big white coach,
it back into the front of my miggy denting the bonnet breaking the grille  and taking a chunk out of the bumper, This was back on January 25th this year, Vauxhall are the approved repairer but they are now saying that spares are in short supply, the grilles for example are on back order and have been for 6 months.

Poor when you think the manufacturer should supply spares for at least 10 years after production of a car stops, mines only 6years old now.. bit worrying really
Possibly worth keeping an eye out for bits on ebay and hording them in the shed juts in case..

Anyone else experineced this?? They wont use secondhand cause it would invalidate the 5 year warranty they give with the work they do ?

Other stories/experiences would be greatfully read.

When a model comes to an end Vaux will prdict the number of items it requires to continue to service that vehicle for 6 years (i believe) after end of production.
Vaux have been caught in the past in this situation, Mk2 cavalier dashboards in the late 80's, within 18 months of the car going out of productionj all the grey dashboards had gone, this was due to the number of thiefs and the damaged done to the dashes.
So we had 18 month old cars that were being written off due to not being able to supply the parts.

they are not obliged to hoild the spares for a length of time, they do it to support the car post production

You'll find the parts on here for sure. I think that there is a Facelift being broken right now on the parts for sale.

I assume you have a hire car being paid for by 3rd party ins.......if so enjoy the fact that your not clocking any miles up on your omega  :y

My merc estate was reversed into by a lorry.......my chosen place of repair (very good but blindingly expensive) took 2.5 months to finish the repair....and same thing, waiting on parts........

My insurance company supplied me with a people carrier, they claimed it was the only thing they could get as auto and have the space of an estate......so i accepted it.......They charged the 3rd party ins comp £125/day for it  ;D You work it out  ;D Approx 75 days at £125/day  ;D

Last time I heard, the 3rd party ins company was taking my insurance comp to court for allowing the bill to get so big  ;D

yup courtesy car is being paid for by 3rd party insurance but vaxhall corsa doesnt quite cut the mustard of my fully loaded 3.2 miggy, It's not till u drive a Corsa you realise how comfortable the leather armchair style seats are in the miggy !!! also the 1.0ltr corsa doesnt quite have the same pulling power as the miggy,, not sure why !!!!

WHERE IS THE BOSE ON THE CORSA LIFE ?????

You shouldnt have accepted a corsa! ........You are entitled to like for like replacement.....so if your 3.2 Omega is auto..which im guessing it is....you should have insisted on a large engined auto replacement......and probably ended up with not an omega, obviously, but a reasonable spec executive car  :y
