I well remember being driven around Kirkistown racetrack by a lunatic, in one of those contraptions. It still brings me out in a cold sweat when I think about it. :o

I did seriously think about getting one once...

.. and turning it into one of these:

Would have been a hoot, I reckon. ;)

I could get on board with something like that :y

Not literally, obviously, it'd topple over with me in it..

I must admit, the traffic density and price of fuel are making me start to think about something "modestly-powered, but steerable on the throttle".  :D

A RWD Avion would fit the bill perfectly. ;)

The Westy can hardly be a gas guzzler though, surely? (Or you'd never make it between filling stations with that 27L tank ;D)

It's not too bad. 30MPG commuting and 38 on a motorway run.

Problem is, there isn't that often a decent enough stretch of clear road to keep it on the boil. Although the A339 last night... ;)

Positively frugal! ;) Although not a great option for year round commuting, I suppose.. unless you enjoy getting cold & wet ;D

You're right about the roads though - bringing the MR2 to work last week reminded me why commuting in it tends to be frustrating.. It was less frustrating with the turbo, mind, as you could get past a lot of stuff. Now it's back to it's original asthmatic 136bhp it's much less fun!

You rang?

;D

I actually saw one of those the other day, come to think of it - full roll cage installed, lowered and extremely quick (in a straight line). No idea what it had under the bonnet but it clearly wasn't the 1.1 'Knightsbridge' it was purporting to be ;D

Spaces are rediculously small. Even with a small car it's often not possible to walk between cars without having to turn side on. Never mind opening a door and actually getting in.
That's because you're a fat git  ;D ;D ;D

On a more serious point though, you are bang on the money with regard the size of the actual available space.

Believe it or not, our 318 does quite well in that department once you switch the ESP off.
Granted you really have to plant the throttle (and make sure you do it at the right time), but it is doable thanks to having 140BHP and 130 lb/ft of torque available (which is quite respectable for a 1.9 litre IMO).

Fuel economy wise, I can do Leics & back (250 mile round trip) on £35 at todays fuel prices.
Haven't bothered to work out exactly what town driving gives, but I'm getting at least 30mpg without a problem.
