MOT Passed but there was a sting.......
« on: 01 April 2012, 17:11:04 »

Got another 12 months and she sailed through except for all 4 inside of the tyres were splitting!
There was plenty of tread left on them and one was only bought last year (8k done since). Took it back to place of purchase and its' being sent to manufacturer for analysis but i don't hold out much hope.
They were autoguard sa802 - 235/45/17. It was quite scary to think what could have happened. The rubber on these seemed too hard and i would never get them again.
Any way got hankook ventus v12 evo all round and will see how they go.

Currently parked on the drive which has a slight decline and the front sidewall is bulging very slighty. The rears are fine.
Just wondering if it is better to pump them up higher. They were fitted with 34ppsi. I mostly do town driving with just me in the car.

I've not really looked into this before so it could well be normal.
Anyone got these and can offer advice?

How old were the tyres? The date is shown as a 4 digit number eg 2310 where 23 would be the 23rd week of 2010  :y

3 were sept 09 and one was 02/10.

Had another look on the driveway and the sidewall bulge i described is negligible so ignoe my prev. comment ont the hankook.

But for anyone looking to put some autoguards sa802 on theirs i would strongly recommend not doing so!
