maff sensor ???
« on: 01 April 2012, 16:01:29 »

took wifey to work this morning with no problems, went to start the car 2 hours later and car started but immediately cut out, tried this 4 times same thing all the time, checked for codes doing pedal trick and with code reader but no codes present. >:(
After a bit of investigation i decided to disconnect the maff airflow sensor plug and it started and ran perfect, the car seems to have a little bit more get up and go 8).
Does this point to a faulty maff sensor  :-\  & if so can this be cleaned or just replace with a new one  :-\.

thanks in advance Noel.

Yep mate faulty maf sensor - with it disconnected engine will run on a default map.

Don't try cleaning it - rarely successful - fit new/good used. :y

On the other hand i've cleaned mine successfully several times now using Isopropylene Alcohol & a thin paint brush, so perhaps worth a try. Also worth checking the maf plug pushes firmly home and the contacts are clean? :y
