He has not had a good day today...
« on: 03 April 2012, 19:23:40 »

Got a call from my son this morning.  He had just been rumped up the back of his Disco when stopped at a junction by someone in a 308.  Snow and ice and a downhill slope were major factors!

Front of the Pug shattered into lots of pretty coloured tupperware.

He looked at the back of the Disco and said to himself...

Best get a bit of black paint on that towbar...   ;D

To be fair, its also bent the rear bumper in at the nearside and will need checking underneath to be sure but, in all honesty, bet theres no damage other than more battle scars.   :y

On the downside, got another call from him late afternoon.

Clutch has just failed, cant get any gears and drive.

Told him to start it in first then judge clutchless gearchanges by ear but he didn't fancy 30 plus miles never having done it before.

So Dad drove out and got the car and son drove Dads.  Actually enjoyed it (clutchless gearchanges that is) after a bit and getting it just right.

Son is now waiting for problem No3......   ;D

I can drive a car without using the clutch. As long as you don't mind paying for a new gearbox as well. ;D

Nope, it is the gospel according to saint Sod. If one thing happens, job done. If a second thing happens, there absolutely will be a third. No doubt about.

In fact it may well be the 11th commandment. As Esty says let's hope it's not the gear box.  :) tried it once on a cavalier though. No issues.

Why a new gearbox? Clutchless changes aren't too difficult ........... just get the revs right & it'll change fairly easily.  :y :y :y
