Why do some get away with things
« on: 05 April 2012, 00:01:03 »

This will turn in to a rant sorry.
Really had a shi* day, as some will remember I've been doing a small project with a Skoda Rapid with my son who has mental health problems so he had something to focus on & have some therapy & today we were doing some work on said car & our housing officer drove by & ordered me to stop working on the car as it say's in our tenancy T&C's that you cant work on cars on their property & that means any car even my Mig.

Now here is my rant, we moved to Didcot 3 yrs ago because where we lived before in Slough we had a drug dealer next door who was dealing class A & growing cannabis & I had a few heated conversations about his dealing with him so as a total SCUMBAG he tried to intimate the rest of my family & made their lives hell, then he was raided by the old bill (nothing to do with me) & was convicted of dealing & growing then a few weeks after that got raided again & the police brought out more drugs & cash but no time served just community service, well that really gave him something to accuse me of so the hassle got worse & was making my family ill so I went to housing to find out if he would be kicked out as he had broken all his tenancy rules to be told NO IT'S A LONG DRAWN OUT PROCESS, so I asked to be moved then but with all their promises of help I got no help & had to find an exchange myself but what gets me is that his family are still living in the house causing havoc there, but I'm being told if I continue to work on my cars I'm in breach of my tenancy & would be kicked out >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
How the hell do these sort of people get away with stuff but I get shafted for a bit of diy car work >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

I have carried out Contract work on several occasions for the Public Sector over the years. I have to admit only about 10-20% of them care about a days work and the rest would be unable to gain employment anywhere else.
I once asked the Head of a Department what his team of 100 people do, as they seem to sit around and not do a lot.
He answered: If half of them died tomorrow (god forbid), we wouldn't notice any difference in the workload :o :o

I was onced turned down for a Project Managers position at a Council, the reason, due to my experience I might make them look stupid. This was the official answer......unbelievable >:( >:(

Is the Skoda you've been working on part of your property that you're renting (i.e.), a driveway or a council garage block or driveway outside the garage, but attached to it?

Think you ought to take a look, or ask to see the 'official version' of the tenancy T&C's that says you cant work on "cars on their property".

This this may only apply if you would be doing it as a business, but if you are working on your own vehicle, or one you own i don't think they would be able to challenge this?

Ohh... And don't phone and ask them, write/email them the question about T&C's if you phone you have no proof of whom you talked to and difficult to prove "who told you" should it go further ;)

Be interesting what their response is?

Good luck :y

Agreed. Cars need maintenance in order to be safe. How can you ensure that if you can't maintain your personal car on your own driveway? OK, might only be topping up the oil, but as long as it doesn't cause an eyesore or inconvenience for your neighbours what's the problem?

If you have a proper driveway and runup from the road, they can't touch you as long as its classed as general maintainence and you don't break heath & saftey or enviromental laws with referance to noise or potential polution.
It must also be YOUR car  ;)

Other then that, get the bonnet up on his cars and squeeze half a tube of course grinding paste into his oil filler cap and sit back while his engine falls apart over the next few weeks   :-X :-X :-X

Not that I condone such a thing of corse

We're having a similar problem with our neighbours.
They are the worst kind of people - she has 12 kids but only the youngest two are still with her - social services took the rest and she has not told them about the youngest one yet.

At one point they had 9 dogs, but the dog warden took them after one ripped out the throat of one of the others in the garden in front of the kids - they were banned from keeping pets but have since got two more.

They spent the first year after moving in seting thier own bins on fire, then calling the police almost daily claiming they were being harrassed - that stopped after the police told them to stop wasting their time.

These days they like to complain loudly (usually to their 3 yr old kid - no-one else will listen) in the street as they walk past our house that we are grassing c****. They advise their kids to be wary of us in case we call the police and/or social services on them. Way to teach your kids tolerance and confidence guys!

As it happens it was not even us that reported them, but this means nothing to them.

So... we have two years of this documented by us and the police, so we took it to Dartford council to lodge a complaint. We were told that they had moved from their last address due to 'harrassment' (familiar story!), but were well known to the police for causing hell wherever they go.  However, we were told that if we were unhappy living next door to them, the council would graciously allow us to move out.

So... pay your rent and keep your nose clean and you will be playing second to those that flout the rules.

Rant over.  :-\

Some very broad sweeping statements there, and the rest is mainly irrelevant shiiiite. To say only 10-20% of the public sector care about a days work!

I ignored it Geoff, it didn't seem worth the effort. It had break all to do with the OP anyway.
