Oooh now then. Been some agro with wheel barings on here. Trying to find a reliable part for decent money is proving difficult.

Vx are about £100 odd I believe. Steap, but reliable.
Then at the other end of the scale there is conti direct, about £35 but don't last. Play comes into them very quickly.

The job itself is easy enough if buying the baring pre pressed into the hub as one unit. As most do.

It's possible to buy the actual baring on its own and press it in according to posts on here.

Needs to be torqued to 320nm though. Halfords do a torque wrench that does 300nm for £70 odd quid, judging the scale to get the extra 20nm seems to work well enough.

The problem seems to be excessive play, or an amount of play, where there should be none, no matter how tight with the conti ones.

Yep, ^ wot he said.  I use that very Halfords Pro torque wrench, does the job lovely but use a breaker bar with a 3 foot length of scaffold pole (or similar) to get it off as they can be difficult to get moving otherwise.

Gm part number is 90486467 and all models use the same hub/bearing so no need to worry about variances.

Febi Bilstein one available here for about £65 inc. postage http://www.vauxhallworldparts.com/vauxhall.php?partnumber=90486467

Or try AutoVaux.
