I have a friend in Leicester interested in becoming an Omega driver!

This is the car he is interested in.

Apart from checking when the cambelt was done last (if at all?) any tips/comments? 3,000 miles a year doesn't seem much? I'll give him a checklist to tick off when he goes to look at it.

I'd be very cautious at that mileage, Omega's hide their mileage very well. Internally my 130k 3.2 Elite, looked same as a 50k mile 3.2.

Check over all paperwork, look at the brake pedal, S button on gearstick and so on.....

For me, that's a few too many pennies for a base model and with only 6months tax tbh, but that's just my view

Low mileage doesn't = a trouble free motor....check the paperwork as said especially the mot's as this will confirm the mileage.

Usual suspects imo. cam cover gaskets, mayo in the coolant tank, front suspension and tyre wear, rust, brake lines etc.etc.

AFAIK , if it were "fully serviced as spec"  then it should still have more than 3 stamps in the service book at that mileage..... service intervals being x000 miles O~R  12 months,  whichever comes first.... 

which means,  it probably hasn't been serviced regularly enough.


check oil condition,  header tank, filler cap , aux drive belt condition, tyre sidewall condition , climate control compressor gas...  (does it get icy cold?) 


i'd want a paper work trail from new to prove mileage.... or it could just as easily have had a new set of instruments......   check all the seat seams for signs of more wear than expected....   the back edge of the steering wheel rim for trim wear,

Might be a trick of the light but look at the photos and in one you can see the stereo looks a different colour. Not real a issue but good question to ask is why?

Also be interested to know why the airbag light is on.

I'd stay away from that.
