computer operating system

Hi all,
i am just looking at the moment into operating systems for a pc and was wondering if anyone has any ideas about which is best i have win 7 at present but was looking at linux but dont know a lot about it the other alternative is a mac operating system but dont know a lot about them any help most welcome :y

Personally I would stick with Win7, its not a bad platform if kept clean and tidy.

For general home use I agree with Zirk, Win7 or if on a tight budget WinXP - not Vista.
Most usual and commercial software is also readily available for the Windows platform.

Linux is a great o/s but still not for your "average joe" - more difficult to configure properly and still occasionally the need to resort to command line.  Fast and main advantage foc (with no support), most software also free.

MacOS designed to run on a Mac, not a pc

thanks for the heads up budget not a problem was just in the process of building a gaming pc and wanted some input on operating systems will stick with windows 7 then  :y :y

For gaming then stick with Win7 64bit, I do a fair bit and have found it the best so far especially with direct x 11

Not always true ;)

Agreed - however most home users will go for a foc version (downloaded) and accept no suppoert. ;)
