Search the internet, all skys pay channels are available to watch for free, sadly watched sky sports 2 on Saturday. Plugged laptop in to TV and watched in full screen, bit of lag at times but hey ho.

Crap resolution though, each one is shut down one by one. £5/m too much for some people?  :o  ;D

If only it was that price there would not be a problem. Or even if it was pay per view would be better, but no the thieving sky wants about £30 a month for it. So while I can find it  ;D ;D ;D

As I posted earlier, iPhone you get all the main sports channels for 5 bucks a month as its on offer at the mo. "NowTV" is a new product being launched as a stand alone product, with independent prices and can be had without subscriptions.

Not told us of the price points yet...

As you work for Sky you're entitled to be a little biased and supportive of them Mark, but I bloody hate Sky. It's wrong that we should have to pay extra in addition to the TV licence fee for major sporting events that should be available for free to everyone, not just the well heeled. Even then once you've paid for Sky, you get an abundance of bloody commercial breaks every 5 minutes on most of their channels! So many of my friends and family that have Sky are being charged a fortune and are seriously thinking of switching to Virgin Media. ::)

Got to defend my employer Bob  :y

With F1 though, there are no adverts during the race, or during the Qualifier sessions.

But simple fact is the BBC cannot afford to broadcast it any more, the rights along are approx £50 million per season, plus broadcasting costs. This will be second time in a row a broadcaster has pulled out of the contract early, ITV pulled out to fund football rights. So Bernie won't be letting them have it again.

Bernie has been quoted has saying he would sell them to Channel 5, but I doubt they could pick up the tab for it. Channel 4 is the most likely provider, as they did well with Test Cricket. But I doubt they could afford it either.

BBC's contract for F1 ends after the 2013 season, but there are strong rumors they want to end it at the end of the 2012 season, and just settle on paying the 2013 season rights, without broadcasting it  :o

Would save BBC around 10 million, given there current strive to save money, its a strong possibility BBC will wave bye bye to F1 this season.

I'm all for seeing Bernie get a bloody nose.

If nobody other than Sky can afford his price, then let it move 100% to Sky. That leaves a few dozen hours a year for the BBC to fill with yet more cr@p soaps and repeats, and the minority who aren't already bored with F1 and can stump up the cash to watch it on Sky can do so.

The advertisers will leave in their droves as the man on the street won't bother to watch it, and F1 will lose the limelight. Give it a couple of years and Bernie will come crawling back with a much more "value for money" offering. ;)

I only thought about this the other day ( I know slow at times)

We paid a license fee for the Radio which the incorporated the TV then along come ITV a commercial channel. So the BBC is funded by a license fee which you have to have to receive any broadcast, but the upstart has to be commercial and sell advertising slots to be successful. Then along come SKY and charge you for the right to view ( license) and then sell the advertising. DOUBLE BUBBLE !!!! Nice earner ;) and the BBC still get the license fee :( ;)

Bernie don't give a monkeys as long as he rakes in his millions :D

Shape of the future I am afraid. We will all pay for whatever we do or watch by duration. Might be that if we are lucky then we may only have to pay to watch highlights.

A session with a lady of the night would come out at about 20p for me then. ;D

Yes, the amount of advertising on Sky makes the programmes verging on the unwatchable, IMHO. I guess they know exactly how much advertising they can get away with without losing viewers and adjust it accordingly. ;)

Sky is just about worth the £20 a month to keep SWMBO occupied, and that's the only reason I pay it.  ;)

One day I'll work out how many Sky channels we actually watch that aren't available on Freeview+Freesat. I suspect it's only one or two.

Barely ever watch any BBC stuff, although the stuff that interests me and isn't brain-dead soap opera or propaganda to turn me liberal is pretty good quality. Can't remember the last time I watched anything on ITV.
