Sick smell
« on: 02 May 2012, 11:09:24 »

Hi all....

Bit gruesome, I know, but what is the best way of getting the stink of sick out of the upholstery and carpets, etc.
Have washed it out, put smelly's in, left doors open, but it still smells. :(
My grandson (10) threw up in the back on sunday, and it still reeks. And I mean threw up..totally redecorated the back :(

Whilst on the subject, have any of you got a problem with people feeling sick in your Miggy's. A few people have commented about my car, and I am a conservative driver :) They don't have any probs in my Renault estate or other cars :(

Try an open box of Charcoal on the back seat for a few days.

I'll try that , zirk....anything is worth a try......

And, Erfan....I need it clean by Monday, as I am hoping to get a new locking motor in, and I don't want Taxi-Al heaving up at the smell :y
I am out there now between posting.....thinking about taking the seats out :y I have foamed the carpets, don't know if that works. Bit worried whether any went in the rear heater vents, cuz he sprayed them ;D That will stink :(

I have a basic steam cleaner you are most welcome to try - no problem to drop off to you before Monday.
You also can get those air bomb things for the air conditioning - if you know what i mean?

A quick google came up with 1 part baking soda to 4 parts squeezed lemon juice - rub and let it soak in and then wash out with warm water (or steam?). If you do this i would suggest be careful to avoid any staining from the lemon

Seats and carpets are stained...god knows what he was eating. I am scrubbing like mad, I found a product in the garage called EGR and it seems to be doing the trick :y I think I can remember using this to clean my Senator seats, and was impressed so went and bought a gallon :y Its the only thing at the moment that will clean it off the plastic.....I would not wish this on my worst enemy ;D

Its the milk/protein/enzymes that make up that smell. You need to break it down with a biological cleaner like the one above. I am not recommending this particular one or supplier, just saying that you really need a bio cleaner.

Opening a bag of charcoal and leaving it in the car is supposed to help absorb niffs. Not tried it myself. I guess you need to neutralise the biological side of it first to stop it getting worse, as D suggests.

I've been trying a bio cleaner from when my two blew chunks in the back of the wife's car. Not winning at the mo. Next option for me is either to remove carpet and jet wash or never travel in the wife's car again. Turns my stomach it do  :(
