Exhaust question....
« on: 04 May 2012, 22:40:53 »

I've found an ad for a powerflow exhaust for a mig saloon.

Question I have is, it shows the 2 pipes into the middle box and only 1 out to the rear silencer.

Is this ok or should it be 2 pipes to the rear silencer?  ???

TIA :y

Very common. But a bodge IMO. The ones I've driven with single pipe at any point feel flat IMO. Plus these stainless fitters don't seem to be able to bolt onto the cats with the correct join. Poor. Overly loud, over priced, and apparently restrictive.

But it's hand made stainless, so must be good right?

No idea, although I'm led to believe they last longer  ???

I don't want an overly load system, just like the low deep growl  ::) ;D ;D ;D

Wrong.  ...well, not necessarily. They do last longer. Trouble is a true twin pipe system is expensive to make, so corners get cut to save costs. Hence the single pipe to back box. Which is not as the GM design.

Granted the twin pipe back box exit may be for show on the 3.2, as Mark suggests on occasion, and admittedly I don't fully understand why a single pipe mid section would make a differance in that case.

But IME single pipe stainless feel underpowered.

I like a growl too. But not a drone, ESP on motorways. If it was just loud when you boot it fine. But loud all the time, ESP on a long journey. That's just pants.

I totally agree with your last statement Chris!   SWMBO had an aftermarket big bore on her pug 206, round town was nice but on a motorway, gave me a bloody headache  >:(

An oofer Mr Hagon has a pretty decent *looking* exhaust made by longlife. The first joint is after the cats and flange which allows it to be removed if needed and maintains two pipe design as per GM throughout. Can't comment on sound
