Door mirror
« on: 01 June 2012, 19:47:11 »

While I'm here, I may as well ask:

How do you remove/replace a door mirror?  It was a bit damaged, then I almost ripped it off reversing in through a narrow entrance - it caught on the hedge.  Luckily, shortly after I acquired the car I bought replacement mirrors, as the originals were a bit bashed about.  However, the bloke at the garage (the one I subsequently fell out with) fixed the old mirrors up in about 3 minutes with string and chewing gum and they've been fine until the hedge.

I probably bought the mirrors on some internet forum or other...

iirc, remove the black plastic triangle on the inside of the door, revealing 2 or 3 bolts.  Undo these slowly and hold the mirror so it doesn't nose dive to the floor!  :y

The triangular trim panel in the corner of the door that holds the tweeter speaker just clips off ie prise it off carefully. There are then three screws that hold the whole thing in place.  :y :y

I thought the tweeter speaker was in the door by the handle or is that just the facelift?

Thanks a lot, all of you.  I wondered if that was what you had to do, and I had, rather gingerly, tried prising it off with a knife, but it didn't yield much, so I gave up and decided to ask.

Got one of those.  Got lots of tools - just not very good at using them :(

Actually, now I come to think about it, it was the little speaker grille I was trying to prise out, not the black plastic bit it's mounted on, which probably accounts for why I wasn't getting anywhere...
