always problems!
« on: 16 June 2012, 13:09:53 »

Today I fancied having the back wheel off to see what is causing the grating noise, I suspect handbrake shoe.... however after getting the car into the rather difficult garage I found that the locking wheel bolt key was gubbed. (I have never used it yet) it only has 2 of the three pins and the two remaining are at odd angles.....me thinks the last use was with a windy gun set far too high. I only have a limited time here in Scotland and the dealers parts dept. is now closed as is the local garage! Problem is the village is not full of saturday car buffs so the chances of finding another locking key are pretty slim!
I am also going to fit the new coolant bottle so I should be able to accomplish one thing today! Mind you I need two people for that as the bonnet catch is sticking! Never ending!

BTW I have read all the posts about getting the old locking bolt off, the problem here is the shortage of tools in my lads garage and I don't want to leave him without a required part.

So it's off to the search again to check on stuck bonnet remedies.

This happened to mine. The locking bolt key did still go on and with a little patience and gentle persuasion of a extended lever bar and socket managed to get them all off and replaced with the original bolts until I got a good key.

Ended with with a new set of lock bolts in the end  ::) as could not find a replacement.

Should be easy job adjusting that bonnet catch , mine was doing the same and needed someone pulling the bonnet while the release lever was pulled . Undo the bold holding the cable down and move the cable , tighten back up and job done  :y

Nice guides, thanks. I shall be going back out after coffee and coconut creams!
Managed to fit the coolant tank no problem, even saved all the coolant!
New one looks good in place, just going to try a local shop on the off chance they have an old locking wheel bolt key.
I think the old one is too far gone to try to use it, I have a feeling if I did the remaining two (bent) pins would snap anyway!!!!

Yeah I know, but, the key won't even go on the bolt they're that far out!
Seems I will have to chisel the collar off and use the old 18mm socket trick....
