Monza query
« on: 09 July 2012, 20:28:00 »

A friend of mine has just bought (stole) one, thats been banged up in a garage for over 10 years. Black 3.0 3 speed Auto in very good nick, cant remember the year, but was told it was one of the last few made due to it having one of those Digital Dash fitted (true/false?), he's just got it through the Mot with a bit of an Exhaust weld up probably wont last 5 mins.

I know nothing about the Monza's but was wondering if theres any thing he needs to look out for, niggles, tips, Engine etc.

blimey the list is endless, ok off the top of me head,
main issue RUST!!
check seams between inner wing and turrets any rust here is bad news the turrets collapse inwards,
windscreen rubbers can leak and let water on to the ecu under dash, not good strange runnning problems usually attributed to this,
trailing arm spring cups rot like there is no tomorrow and can let the spring fall out, very dodgy!1
rear end of sills also known to be weak,
the killer for these though, is believe it or not the sunroof drains end in the inner wings!!! yes then it falls through btween the inner wing and the outer wing front, and the rears end halfway up the wing also, rear arches can die easily cos if this,
engine bullet proof, but can suffer annoying fuel leaks on the inlet rubbers,
shame its an auto!!
stick a 24v manual in it and go embarras just about any car on trackdays, brilliant!!
ok no doubt there is more but im knackerd so will think about it and report back,
