accident outside my work today
« on: 27 August 2012, 17:23:36 »

sitting in work today and saw a car sat in the bus lane outside my shop, I thought she'd broken down at first didn't seam anything wrong with car a ford ka to be exact. her mum and had arrived and was standing out there for ages waiting for what I thought was recovery truck, so went to see if I could help at all to which her mum replied no its ok she's had an accident and is shaken up and had back pain. there was no signs of any damage to the back of the car where she was hit. I asked her mum where the other car whoed hit her was he had driving off at high speed only stopping to tell the girl to pull over and we'll exchange details. ambulance arrived and took a look at girl and decided best way to get her out was to take roof off. so fire brigade turn up and off with the roof in about 5 mins

I hope the police catch the bloke who hit her as it makes me mad how someone can just drive off leaving that behind >:(

Sounds like she had pound signs in her eyes. When people realise the roof of their pride and joy will be cut off they make a quick recovery.

Its probably something to do with the blame/claim culture we live in today but I must admit I thought the same thing when I saw the picture

It's not cynical or nasty thanks. It's a conclusion I've come to from attending loads of rtc's and chopping roove's off, oh, and having my head screwed on and knowing what goes in society.

What is bloody annoying though is the numerous people who make false or exaggerated claims, pushing up my insurance premiums.

It must be said that I'd have tended to come down on the cynical side here.Until July last year when some muppet in a golf turned right across my path giving me about 15 feet to stop my Senator from just over 50 m.p.h!He finished upside down in someones front garden we finished up blocking the hole in the hedge that he'd just made getting pushed through it!Luckily everyone "walked" away from the accident, fine at the time but boy was I hurting the following day!Took 9 months to sort that out even though he admitted liability straight away!

Sorry if you think that way, but I see em every day too in my job and time after time they get out after a minor bump and are fine, yet as soon as the paramedics arrive the dying swan kicks in.

One such event springs to mind when I was at a RTC involving a Corsa & a clit. Apart from a scuff on the bumper you couldn't tell either had been in an accident. The female who'd been hit got out of the car, ran down the street to her mums address to ring her b/friend up, then runs back to the car. He turns up later on & she gets into his Evo 9. Paramedics turn up to see whats goin on & she then claims that she can't move & is stuck in the passenger seat of b/f's car.
"Only one solution" says paramedic "We'll have to take the roof off b/f car!!!!" & asked me to radio for the Fire bobbies! She soon got the message when b/f told her to get out! Absolutely nothing wrong with her & the paramedics were of the same opinion!

Looks like Exeter Street  ;)

SWMBO had an Audi hit the rear of her Micra at the Roborough roundabout 3 years ago now. I got a phone call so drove out to meet her and the policeman (the other driver had exchanged details and left).

It didn't seem too bad at first. No airbag deployment (I didn't realise till later that it didn't have airbags ::)). I took a mudflap off that was rubbing on a rear tyre and we drove it home.

Got it home, checked inside the boot & discovered that the spare wheel well had collapsed and I couldn't get the spare wheel out.

To cut a long story short: those plastic bumpers can hide a lot of impact damage.
