He has been abducted, probably by Aliens of a lower intelligence than us  and replaced with a Doppleganger who is the exact opposite of the Original steve!
As I speak type, the 'real' steve is probably being anally probed by a large vibrating implement wielded by a weird looking creature known as a 'Queen' in the Liverpudlian vernacular, as such it is unlikely he will return any time soon to reclaim his rightful OOF inheritance because the old git will be enjoying himself too much!!!!!
