Found out some more info.  Seems the alarm would not reset not mater what was done, allthough the car could still be started and driven.

The alarm seems to reset itself after 30 seconds and then no more drama till the next time.

Is your battery good?

When I first bought my 2.6 the power sounder was being triggered by low battery voltage.

It definitely occurred a few times when starting the engine. I can't remember whether unlocking also triggered it :-\

Dont know at this point andy, must admit that was my fisrt thought.  The guy I am buying the car off had it to an autotrician but he could not find anything, but it may be one of those jobs that can only be sussed if you can test while the unit is going off. :-\

I think that this is a common problem with omegas....mine was the same and on inspection the batteries in the sounder unit had leaked...then i read on here that it could cause a fire so to be safe i took the whole thing out and threw it in the bin....problem solved. :y
