2001 2.2dti manual eml and loss of power.
« on: 05 September 2012, 20:38:32 »

Good evening. have just joined this forum as i,m the owner of the car above.
Have owned for 1 year now and all has been good and we love the car. But.
Towing the caravan home last week. The EML came on and the car lost most of the power and will only rev to 4k.
Have cleaned the maf and the egr valve which was very coked up.
But alas it,s not cured the problem.
If you turn the engine off and wait a few seconds and re-start the eml is off and will rev to redline(but still no power when you drive) then the eml will come back on after a min or so and only rev to 4k.
I,ve checked as many pipes as i can see, But am now stumped as to what to try next.
I,m in Eccles Manchester and would be grateful for any advice or Happy to pay for a members time and expenses to come and hook it up and find out whats wrong. All the best Gary.

Unfortunately the pedal trick doesn't work on the dti's.  Codes can only be read with a code reader.  :y

Update. had a look at it again today. Took the pipe off from the solinoid to the egr and there is suction but seems very low.  Took the solinoid off and gave it a spray with wd. Seems to have slightly more power, but then the eml comes back on and will only rev to 4k again. I did read that the solinoid should make a noise if you shake it?. But mines silent.
Would like to take you up on your offer Mark spark to read the codes for me. If you could pm me a contact number would be great . Many thanks Gary
