50 Billion
« on: 21 April 2008, 21:12:16 »

The Bank of England has given high st banks 50 billion, at the cost of the tax payer. I seem to recall not too long ago someone being given 30 billion. Now is it just me or is this beeping government (i use this word very losely) giving away just about everything we have. Last year it was north sea oil & what ever else that they feel fit.
I see politics in black & white & these tossers we have in power should be thrown out NOW. As far as i'm concerned it's because of them we're in this mess in the first place & they shouldn't go giving away money like they do with no guarantee of a return.
I'm not ranting, i'm saying what i think  ::)

Remember Gorden Brown when Chancellor, selling off a high percentage of our gold reserves at a fraction of the price he could of made just a few weeks later?
A bit of loose change from the billions flying around now, and we could still have a motor industry. I know this is an Omega forum, but I was rather partial to Rovers & the 75 in particular. :'(

Lol, the press are doing a good job of miss selling this one!

Its actually a positive thing because its a loan (government bonds) so will earn the tax payer money thanks to the interest rates charged against them!

It also should help the economy stutter along a little longer

As will the Northern Rock money to.....Northern Rock could prove to be a tidy little earner if they play thier cards right.

Trouble with the whole system is, if you get rid of the current clowns in Government,  who are you going to replace them with ?. Another load of clowns.
Trouble is, to get elected you have to go for the populist vote, eg if people think they are going to get dosh from you they will vote for you. Never mind if its the worst thing to do for the country's sake, they will do it.
We never have people who are experienced at doing the job they get elected or chosen to do. Look at.................well any of them. Who has experience of Energy Generation, of Teaching, of Medicine, of Finance, of Engineering, or of running a large Company ?. None of them.
And as to the Banks, they are idiots. Most of them got caught with the sub prime lending, in other words lending money to people who hadn't a chance in hell of paying it back. The only money they make is by dodgy means, eg fining people who missed a credit card payment etc. Interesting to see how sonme of them have tried turning to Insurance as an easy earner, to prop up their losses elsewhere.

Last one out, switch off the lights.

Whichever way you look at it this country is in one hell of a mess. Teachers are going on strike shortly for more pay, they get 13 weeks off, work a short 5 day week and after a couple of years in the job earn about 30k a year, and some of them are not qualified. The governments own school inspection has shown that 10% of teachers are officially classed as sub standard. When we moved house a few years ago I found my old GCE French O Level exam paper from 1974, I gave it to my daughter to take into school as she was doing her mock exams at the time and I thought it may be useful. She brought it back home and I quote - " The teacher said it was too difficult and she struggled with it ". Now in a language exam there is no spoken test, what is the point of learning a language and not being able to speak it ? Another recent survey has found that the standard of education in the UK is the worst in industrialised Europe. But we are paying to save the planet from global warming, you know - the same planet that cooled by 0.1 of a degree over the last few years, according to the World Meteorology Study. I want my money back.

"they work a short 5 day week " ...... they only work a 4 and half day week in Scotland ,  :-X
The language exam problem is only highlighted when you ne3d 3 interpreters for a parents evening !!  :-X
Global warming , thet,a makes as much sense as " rush hour " , 20 years ago we were heading into another ice age , now it,s global warming ( when,s it going to get warm ) , this planet,s been changing and adapting since it began ( and we are all still here ) , too much population and not enough food will be the next big one , (you read it here first )  8-)
