Good turns
« on: 25 October 2012, 18:18:50 »

Was in a bit of a pickle today, got my manifold off to find the downpipe studs were mangled beyond use, replacements supplied from Vaux were totally unsuitable bolts at £15 for 4 ::). I rang a few engineering places and all said they couldn't touch it for weeks and quoted silly money £100+. I used to be on a merc 190 forum and loosely got to know a nice old guy down the road who is a bit old school fred dibnah and popped round for any suggestions he could give. Unbeknownst to me his son has an engineering place and he proceeds to take it down there, spends a few hours on it getting the old buggers out and nicely pops 2 studs in, welded for good measure! and wouldn't take a penny for it.

Gave him a Merc fuel filter I had knockin around and will drop off some treats for his lovely rescue collie, really made me think how good people still exist in a sometimes shitty world  :y

I like to think as a whole, people are like that. It's just a few that spoil it.

Good to see that but tbh, I think that most people nowdays would be quite happy to sit back and chuckle under there breath while watching you struggle  :(

Too much "i'm alright jack" in this world nowdays and anybody who does come over to help are normally after something   >:(

That is one of the things that make this forum so good  ;)
