UPS/Surge protection
« on: 26 October 2012, 21:58:59 »

We sometimes have mains power supply issues. Seem to be going through a spate of odd glitches which Southern Electric say is not them and they are going to come and fit a device to meter for a week to see if there are issues.

However computer has been knocked out twice in 3 days and pond pump stopped at circuit breaker also light on dimmer switch just went out.

Just wondering if to be on safe side re PC I put one of these in or is it overkill?

Any other recommendations? - don't really need battery back up as power  is just literally a glitch which does not affect other appliances

No harm in it too be honest and less likely to cause issues with the PC as well or just get a surge protector plug

A few of these around the house to protect the electonic bits will do the job just as well.

Or if you have any old strip lights with the old capacitor across the live and neutral terminals lying around   ;) ;)
