Update on the ticket, phoned the son last night with the advice given. He says ok,but also says the ticket was not signed by the PC and that he never  signed anything to say that he had received it,is this normal.
I told him just to pay the fine and don't do it again, but he's a pig headed little git.
                                                                                                                    Alfie.

As per Hotel21's original statement:

As I said earlier, the ticket may well be questionable as far as a ticket goes but I know from experience that if the son of the OP decides to not pay then a fixed penalty ticket of a different sort - but with the same penalty - is generated on behalf of the Court after the 28 day payment window.

Likewise, I have seen errors on said tickets that went all the way to trial in a Court in front of the great and the good and all that was done when the error was finally offerred up as a get out of jail card by the defendant, the prosecutor simply took the ticket/summons/copy complaint and corrected the date/address/reg number/whatever and simply burst the bubble of the defendant in front of the Court.

I know how I would deal with it but its the sons call, ultimately.   :y

Pretty clear really  :y

Do what I do with my kids now,and that is tell them that they are now their own people and all grown up, and as they have known absolutely every thing from the age of twelve then my opinion is of little or no value ::)

I've got to admit, it does grip your shit getting a fixed penalty notice. I took my dog to the park for her morning walk today, paid 60p for an hour. I was eight minutes late getting back to the car and have a ticket for £45.
I'll have to pay, of course, but I am considering giving the dog a good kicking.
