change cam and lifters and ported heads = LOT more :y  :y

You would be better off with this


repairing that will cost more than buying a runner..  one mechanic friend tried and only parts cost a fortune..
 
and he paid nothing for any work done.. :-\

BMW parts are expensive aren't they?

A rear coil spring for a standard E36 is £32 + VAT, but if you've got the M-Sport version then that coil spring will set you back £160.
Front window regulators are £48 brand new (which is quite cheap by any comparison), and control arm bushes can be had for £18 (both sides) and take less than 30 mins to change.

Swings & roundabouts at the end of the day.

9 years old 107,000 miles and a non runner and he wants £3500 for it. What planet are these people on. At that age and mileage I would not pay that much for it in good running order.  think it must be true, stick a bmw badge on a dog turd and idiots will buy it. Sad really.
