Radio goes off when car is moved
« on: 14 January 2013, 13:54:52 »

Ok, sit in car with radio on no problem, put in gear no problem, take handbrake off no problem, pull away and radio turns off. Changed radio for known good unit, still the same. Remove as much dash as possible and wiggle wires and radio won't go off. Pull away and radio goes off.

Also the radio will not turn back on until the ignition has been switched off and back on again.

Tonight I intend to atach a test light to the feed and see what that shows.

If you have any bright ideas I would be very thankful.

Having so much grief with radios lately. This is my 3rd radio problem this month, and in 3 different cars. At least I have managed to fix two of them on my own.

Sounds like you may have installed an aftermarket radio without paying any attention to the wiring and just plugged together two similar plugs ?

If so, the SDVC / GALA / speed pulse wire is probably the culprit here

That would stilll indicate something may be wrong or battery voltage very low.

What stereo do you have fitted?

Can't think of the number but standard facelift stereo with tape and 4 disc cd player built in. 2003 car.

Car was parked up for about 2 months as mum had bad leg. When we came to get it going battery was very low, recharged it all was ok for about 1 month then this happened.

Battery has recovered well and starts first time every time.
