BT-big company logic
« on: 09 January 2013, 16:34:42 »

I am in the process of switching my internet and landline from BT to sky. I received texts/phonecalls from BT asking me why and offering inducements to stay. I told the I was moving because they couldn't match the price and....blah...blah.
I received a letter today which really explains why I am leaving, if only the idiots could comprehend it.

Here's a flavour of it:

"We are really sorry to lose you. But good luck with your new arrangements and we hope you'll come back to us in the future".
We estimate that you'll need to pay £3.27 in termination charges for ending your contract early. Please pay right away. If you don't pay, we may pass your details to a credit reference agency, which might affect your credit rating".
F**kwits. It is an estimate, so not a definite amount. I still have a direct debit in place for them to take what I owe and there's no explanation of how to pay even if I wanted to.
I rang to tell them what I thought of their letter and the human computer said it was 'industry standard'.
No....it's not. It's just BT thinking that they are so big that they can treat you like shite. Well.....no more.

Breathe deeply and think of your blood pressure, old chap. :-* :-* :-*

We're back with BT again.......and they're great ;D ;D

May I suggest you give them a bell :).

It is far too easy for these bastards to threaten to put a black mark on your credit report. You should be given some right to state your case before it is applied, not afterwards when you have to jump through hoops to prove that you're not trying to defraud someone.
I am thinking of becoming totally debt free and tearing my credit cards up. Then thy can threaten whatever they like.

Indeed Opti :y

I have been with BT for decades and on the rare occasion I have had a problem with them they have always rectified matters pronto!  In fact just two days ago I received a letter stating they would take £40 out on the next D/D for a monthly payment; after a short "discussion" they soon cancelled that and it was back to the correct £10! :D :D :D ;)

In the past the BT people in India have corrected matters with my BT broadband at 2 in the morning with absolute professionalism and efficiency.  Even managed to have a pleasant conversation about the weather in Delhi!  8) 8) ;)

With Sky though I have known others to have nothing but hassle that they will not put right without involved correspondence and numerous phone calls.  So best of luck with Sky Steve! ::) ::) ::) :D :D

I'm with BT but find their customer service hopeless. I switched to BT Infinity about eight months ago and tried to pay some outstanding funds as the Direct Debit started late in the month.
Went through the usual "If you wish to blah blah blah press 1, "If you wish to blah blah blah press 2 and so on.  :(
After endless attempts to pay them and getting a foreigner that I couldn't understand answering my calls, I used their live message service to ask to speak to someone in the UK that spoke good English. They replied and asked if they could phone me, and when I agreed I got a call..............from a foreigner that I couldn't understand.  ::)

Also, when I was with TalkTalk I had a 10GB limit and never went over but now I'm on BT Infinity I'm clearing 40GB. My usage habits haven't changed and I've checked that no-one else is using it so what's happened there? I do not own a gaming system and have no interest in them so it's not that and I wouldn't even know how to download a film.  :-\
I find it amazing that a telecommunication company are so difficult to speak to. I don't blame anyone for leaving them and changing supplier.

Oh stop whining.

I was with Orange in Spain (useless bunch of .......). They lost my SIM card and then when I suspended monthly payments to try and get them to fix the problem, they just ignored me and passed me to the debt collection sharks and put me on a black list. 14 months on and it still isn't resolved.

BT do get on my wick when I have to deal with their customer service. Its appalling.

Not convinced they are better/worse than other big companies, but it certainly isn't good enough.
