Yes you need to replace urgently to avoid breaking your cam belt.

Always fit a genuine Vx part (093170697) @ £67.49 trade plus VAT to avoid early replacement as you have found with a pattern pump. ;)

I would add that replacement of the cam belt is advisable if change is due. :y

Whilst I concur that there have been some cheap imitaiton pattern water pumps which have become noisy early in their life - some pattern pumps are absolutely fine.

Autovaux do a Meyle pump, for example, which I have had huge success with. It's not always available, but when it is, it's around £26 / £29

Whilst it's unlikely, there have been instances whereby aux belts which have come adrift have found their way into the cambelt area and caused damage. This is unlikely, though, I'd think you'd need to be pretty unlucky...

Have encountered on some cheap aftermarket pumps = rubbing of impeller on inside of block :o
also make sure you dont mix up the 3 bolts=different lengths and you can do it without removing front cover-BUT I would remove it-drop 1 bolt  down the front -you will see nothing but grief=remove front cover  mate its longer but safer :y
