All Omega petrol versions need cambelt kit changed @ 40K or 4 years. 4-pot needs the water pump replaced at the same time

All petrol engines, 40k or 4 years, which ever is first.

2.0/2.2 needs water pump changed as well  :y

It's the tensioners that go, or a seized waterpump. Condition of the belt is not a factor really, as you cannot tell visually :)

Yep - apparent condition of belt is irrelevant. ;)

'Fraid not. The belts aren't the cause of failures on these. Very, very rare to see a snapped belt on these, and those occasions can usually be attributed to a bearing failure throwing the belt, which then jams.

To the OP, its not just the cambelt, but the cambelt 'kit', including idlers and tensioners, as well as the belt. As others have said, 2.0 and 2.2 needs waterpump done at same time. Usually its the tensioner bearing that lets go first (and waterpump on 2.0/2.2)

Thank you for that info, is it an expensive job, especially if it has to be done on a quite regular basis going by the mileage figures, I normally do about 13 / 14k per year, so in approx 3 years would have to get it done again.
Other vehicles i`ve had, usually recommend 60 / 70k

Thanks

Its quite easy DIY, its straight forward on 2.0/2.2  :y

You do have members near you who offer mobile services, if your not confident to do it yourself.

Try Elite Pete or Darth Loo Knee  :y
