The filler cap or the filler?

If the latter it has to be mounted somewhere structurally sound.  It can't, for example, go on a plastic body panel without sufficiently bolting it to something substantial.  I thin kthe same goes for metal body panels too.  This is to prevent the filler being pulled off if you drive away while the pump is attached.  There is a disconnection mechanism in the pump but it needs to pull against something substantial to work.

I would like to get my 3.2 converted, but I don't like the look of the filler/filler cap on the side of the bodywork, I like what TB has done and fitted it under the rear number plate, which is then fitted to a hinge & spring

One of mine is mounted, via some brackets, to the rear metal strip behind bumper, hidden with a home made sprung hinged numberplate.

Other is mounted on bumper plastic (yup, I drilled an Irmscher bumper  ::)), and a shop bought hinged number plate.

The former is miles better.

Is this legal to conform to the rules for lpg?

But TBE shouldn't have passed with it only mounted on the bumper ;)

In reality most inspectors will pass it if mounted just to the bumper but, ideally, should be mounted to something more secure. It's supposed to be able to withstand 10N pull IIRC :-\

And...it should be 300mm away from the exhaust or a heat source. Or have its own heat shield, which applies to fuel lines really.

As mine was fitted with the filler on the right hand side behind the number plate with oe bumpers it passed.

I then fitted Irmscher bumpers with an either side exhaust exit at the back. But because the filler is on the right side of the number plate, strictly speaking it wouldn't pass as is, as the filler would need to be in the middle of the number plate.

I wasn't aware of the solid bracket mounting rule. Both my lpg omegas had filler behind the number plate, mounted in the plastic, both passed.

Have a (hopefully) neat solution for the estates, but again involves securing to the bumper plastic, although by design a stronger part of the bumper... time will tell :y
