I would have considered it a priviledge to have such a grandpa. 91 is a good innings when alls said and done. When the rawness subsides, you will still miss him, but maybe you will realise that his was a different time and comparing him to people today would be doing him an injustice.
He was a one-off.RIP.

My old man is 83 this year as your Grand dad was he's fit, still has his marbles and when I get in a jam working on the car he has one of the best work around brains ever. He went to sea at 14, joined the RAF and flew on the last active squadron of Wellingtons then went on to commercial flights. He is also one of my best mates not just a Dad. I will miss him terribly when the time comes. I feel for your loss. My deepest regret  to you and your family.

Loosing anyone close is difficult  but to cancer is a very sad way to go feel for you but as Steve said he did get to the ripe old age of 91 an acheivement in itself i think nowadays. sounds a character and lots to always remember about him.

my farther in law your typical Londoner old school, retiered 65 dustman had a lump on his neck thought it was from bins etc turned out it was cancer 2 weeks later gone, just bloody retierd. Makes you more aware to enjoy the times you have with people. Wifey also lost her daughter @15 who was autistic, we talk about them all the time some times you roar with laughter some times we cry but they are always with you, you never loose them

its very sad for those that have worked so hard or struggled in life to not see them enjoy life but i am sure he was happy in his own right with his grandson, hard to find the posatives at times but they are always there. and as you said life goes own sure he would be very proud

sorry for you and your familys loss
