When I say under the car, I mean on the underside of the car.
I'm about to change the engine now so it's in the air, I have seen it before aswell but not been bothered to check it out before now.
The propshaft, gearlinkage and the underside of the body in that area is full of oil, but the underside of the gearbox is dry.

I can take a picture next time i'm in the garage, but I have wiped the oil off the propshaft.

Any ideas where this is coming from?

It's a 3.0l Manual

Could be anywhere but cam cover gaskets is my favorite

A buddy of mine which is a mechanic said he thought it was engine oil and not gearbox oil.
Am i right in thinking if it was the gearbox, that the gearbox underside would be full of oil aswell?

The engine which is in now will be changed anyway, I may be taking down the gearbox today so maybe i can look for oil on the top of it?

Air flow under the car at road speed could have moved oil (whether gearbox, engine or power steering) anywhere. It could also be the rear crank shaft seal. Due to tha age of your car, I think I'd be tempted to change it anyway while the engine is out of the car .... they're £30odd from GM

The color of the oil is at least the same as the engine oil (I can't remember if the gearbox oil is the same color?)
I have got a refurbished engine which i'm assembling on tuesday that's replacing the engine that's in the car.

Are the flywheel bolts reusable? (would you buy new bolts if you were going to remove the flywheel to change the rear crank seal?)

Well I'm not English so I don't know how to spell EVERY word.
And this is a manual gearbox, although i assume they are the same colour.

They are stretch bolts and should be changed, is what i've heard

Not sure about a manual gearbox in the Omega, however when I bought oil for a manual Astra from Vauxhall it too was red 

They are stretch bolts and should be changed, is what i've heard

I'd still use the old bolts, & IIRC one of them is a dead size in one of the flywheel bolt holes ... it was on my Carlton years ago.

That reminded me when i changed on my manual vectra that was red aswell
Will empty out the fliud of the gearbox today as I'm changing it, then I'll have the answer
