Sorry if this is an "old chestnut " but just wanted some advise.
Car has been running really rough for last few days and has thrown EML on and when I flashed up the stored codes it came up 17.
Suspecting fault on N/S possibly a plug I started to investigate this morning and I was slightly dissapointed to find plug wells 2/4/6 half full of oil.Checking my records they were last replaced 83k ago back in Sept 2009 with genuine VX parts and done by a renown forum mechanic so no fault lies with how they were done.
Oil has been changed every 4k only every with VX ,and full breather system cleaned every other change and when checked today they were clear.
The O/S had a similar failure back in October last year so is it just "wear,n,tear" and due to age/mileage they should be accepted as a service part or could anything else be not right ??
Also is it practical to be able to replace N/S seals with wiper scuttle left in place as I have managed to now get that watertight and could do without disturbing it again.Managed to get it all apart with it still in situ but doing a few "dry runs" placing the cover on to see what is the best point of access as I have never done this side before.
