About 2 months ago I needed new tyres and was on a tight budget so I went for what I could afford and got 4 255/55 16" mohawk m112 all in for £280 despite them getting ridiculously bad reviews online.
Anyway these tyres are meant to be dreadful in the dry never mind the wet according to the reviews.
Took it easy for the first few days in the dry weather and found them to be absolutely fine, so pushed a little harder now and again and I've pushed them as hard as I would any tyre and no complaints whatsoever. Same results in the wet, was expecting them to be dreadful but were actually fine....... so when I seen the snow I thought ok, just leave the mig at home. Where I live is ok but the father in law lives in the mountains and he's in the middle of lambing season so we try to keep him stocked with food as he lives alone and tends to feed the sheep before himself. Anyway we went out this morning to take food to him and the wifes tractor (avensis with snow tyres fitted btw) wouldnt start and rather than leave the man stranded with no food as the weather is meant to get worse I thought I'll try the omega and see how it goes. Its 15 miles from my house to his, 7 miles on a treated road, 4 on an untreated road and the last 4 on a farm lane all in hilly mountainous terrain. What a shock I had, we got stuck once, on the last hill about 200 yds from his front door and thats were we gave up as the snow was over 12" deep at that stage. Yes the TC light was flashing from time to time and the back end was sliding around occasionally but I was very impressed. Depends how they wear but I'm very impressed.
