CV rubber boot.
« on: 22 April 2013, 21:03:16 »

Hello all,

I am trying to get hold of some parts for my vehicle and unfortunately not doing to well.

My vehicle is:
Vauxhall omega estate, '51 plate
3.2l elite
auto

The rear passenger side rubber boot on the cv joint (near the wheel, outer?) has split and the grease has leaked out.

Obviously this rubber boot needs changing, the problem is that vauxhall says they don't have any stock of this item and they were of the opinion that no more parts will be made, euro car parts website also shows now stock and an unknown time period until any stock arrives.

Can anyone recommend a supplier of good quality parts, preferably a kit that contains the rubber boot, grease, clips etc.

How easy is it to change this part? Should i change both rears at the same time?

As always, Many, many thanks in advance.

Singh

Get a second hand drive shaft as boot failure is very rare

Have you tried a local motor factors for a generic boot? When SWMBO had a Hyundia, the dealers wanted about £40 for just the boot, a generic boot was bought for £3  ???  :y  :y  :y
