Fake Bomb Detector
« on: 02 May 2013, 13:56:20 »

The guy makes £50m selling a joke golf ball finder as a bomb detector, to countries including the UN, Belgium and Iraq now the poor bugger gets 10 years. I know it put lives at risk but didn't anyone test these things or open them up to see they had no contents before spending 10's of thousands of pounds on each one ???
If you going to commit fraud go for the big one :D :D

The sales were archived with bribes to officials... So no one looked inside the case because no one looked past the envelope of used notes thrust at them.  ;)

Indeed. whoever was responsible for procuring them should get the same treatment. Then again, as defence procurement goes, it's par for the course, IMHO. ::)

The reason he got ten  years, is because he sold the units to a lot of goverments who also buy British ,made armaments, and so the goverment had to show that it wouldn't tollerate illegal devices as arms is this countrys biggest export.
Damage limitation for the arms industry, who employ a lot of ex MPs and even more voters.

Hmm, didnt that bloke (could use more appropriate language  >:() who was found guilty of killing his kids in a fire get "life" ie 25 yrs with a possibility of serving just 15? Which is the more hienous crime? Maybe that old adage about crimes around money being treated more seriously than crimes against lives holds some water? :-[
