early migs dont have the delay iirc-your battery drain could be alternator :y

iirc = If I Remember Correctly  :y

Regulator on the alternator can break down and short to earth (chassis)
This would drain the battery.

Pull fuse 7 (utilities) and see what happens  :y
If that doesn't work out and if you can get your hands on a clamp meter, set it to mA and clamp it across the 12 volt terminal of the battery.
With the ignition switch off and the key removed, pull each fuse out one by one until the current drain stops. Remember which fuse then find out which circuits it powers.  :y

It cant short (god you would know it if it did, it would certainly 'self repair' quite quickly  ;D :y).

Only possibles are if the field winding could be permanently energised which is a possible with the Bosch regulator types, easy to check though as the charge volts would be very high when the engine is revved.  :y
